Performance management focuses on the results rather than just the process and looks if the plans and policies are implemented correctly.

It aims to accomplish the goals created by providing a framework and guidelines. In short, the chief objective of having a performance management system is to achieve more effectiveness and efficiency in the way governments function.

In this video, Praja Trivedi, Senior Fellow of our Center; Special Envoy for SDG Implementation, Commonwealth Secretariat, in London; and Harry Hatry Distinguished Performance Management Practice awardee explains more about the implementation of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He  also talks about the challenges countries face, the concept of a performance agreement, and the importance of the implementation of performance-related incentive schemes. He urges the government across the globe to prioritize goals and to live up to their promises. That, according to him, is the secret to improving performance management.
