The use of AI in national defense dates back more than 6 decades, but the transformational impact of this technology on defense operations only began to be realized in the past 10 years. AI-enabled solutions present significant opportunities for defense organizations to improve mission outcomes; however, leaders must be prepared to address the challenges their organizations might encounter on their AI journeys.

Mr. van Bochoven is a global executive serving defence and intelligence clients with their essential work.  For 23 years, Mr. van Bochoven has worked with this community and NATO to improve mission readiness. He was appointed Distinguished Industry Leader in 2022. Prior to working with IBM, Mr. van Bochoven was a Director with the Baan Institute.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has radically redefined many aspects of everyday life. Organizations across both the public and private sectors are exploiting AI for a wide array of applications. For defense organizations, AI solutions also present significant opportunities to improve mission effectiveness.

Mr. van Bochoven attended the Harvard Kennedy School's Executive Education program and earned certificates in National and International Security and Leadership Decision-Making.  He received his masters in Business Economics from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
