This week, Johnny Barnes, our Public Sector Chief Technology Officer, provided an overview comparing cloud models and offering thoughts about their connection to the mission needs that may drive an organization to move to the cloud. For many, this framework is clear; using definitions provided by NIST is intended to help federal leaders compare apples to apples.

On Cloud: This week, Johnny Barnes, our Public Sector Chief Technology Officer, provided an overview comparing cloud models and offering thoughts about their connection to the mission needs that may drive an organization to move to the cloud.  For many, this framework is clear; using definitions provided by NIST is intended to help federal leaders compare apples to apples.

A few other articles relevant to efforts to improve performance while reducing budgetary needs:

·    Joe Davidson’s article Monday on the SAVE awards
·    Ed O’Keefe’s article about personnel changes at the United States Postal Service.  We’ve discussed the USPS’s efforts to streamline their operations and improve delivery in prior posts.
·    Kellie Lunney’s recap of a Federal Computer Week panel event that described challenges of preventing improper payments.
·    The Center for the Business of Government’s report on energy efficiency opportunities for state and local government.  Although many of you lead larger Federal organizations, many ideas can scale to larger organizations.

If you haven’t seen Debra Cammer, Public Sector Consulting Leader, on a short video discussing the white paper, I encourage you to add it to your iPod.  For those of you who haven’t yet read the material, this may be an easier way to digest the information during your commute.

Finally, I want to thank some of our new Twitter followers – I’ve been impressed with the growing interest in the discussion here.  I’m excited that we are making a meaningful contribution to the dialog.  If you aren’t already following us, please join us at #federalcostcut and #perfimp4gov.
