Lawrence L. (Larry) Martin holds the M.B.A. degree from the American Graduate School of International Management and the M.S.W. and the Ph.D. degrees from Arizona State University. He has taught social administration at Columbia University in New York City and business and public administration at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Prior to his academic career, Martin worked as a state and local government manager in Arizona.

Some of the positions he held included: director of aging programs for the state of Arizona, deputy director of the Maricopa County (Phoenix) Human Resources Department and director of the Maricopa County Office of Management Analysis. Martin is a recognized scholar in the areas of: public-private sector relationships, performance measurement, performance-based contracting, public-private competition and human services administration. He has over 100 publications including some 14 books and major monographs. Martin holds the rank of professor and teaches in the college?s interdisciplinary doctorial program in public affairs. He holds joint appointments with both the Department of Public Administration and the School of Social Work.
