Dr. Susan Hannam is Dean of the College of Health, Environment, and Science at Slippery Rock University. She has over 25 years of higher education experience in Canada and the United States. She has successfully led department reorganizations, including facilitating finding a niche (brand) and increasing their visibility and enrollments. She has led university-wide initiatives including development of mission/vision, continuous improvement projects and assessment initiatives. She co-led a national task force to reform the undergraduate educational standards for accreditation of a health-related profession. She has presented and written articles regarding program assessment and effective large classroom teaching techniques and written a book entitled “Professional Behaviors in Athletic Training”. She is a strong advocate for empowering people to be effective and informed leaders.
Dr. Hannam’s research interests include program assessment, learning style differences and ways to improve critical thinking. She is a certified athletic trainer, is Myers-Briggs Type Indicator trained, and is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh XXVI. She received a doctorate in Health and Safety from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
