Dr. Reginald Wells is the Deputy Commissioner of Human Resources for the Social Security Administration (SSA). In this role he is responsible for the Office of Human Resources staff at SSA headquarters of about 400 people in addition to another 300 employees who work for the operations part of the organization.

The Office of Human Resources is responsible for monitoring the hiring, retention and support of employees in the field to ensure consistency across the agency. The Office of Training, the Office of Personnel, the Office of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity, Office of Labor-Management and Employee Relations, and the Human Capital Planning Staff is also under Wells' supervision.

Prior to joining SSA, Dr. Wells ran the District of Columbia's Department of Human Services and acted as Associate Commissioner of the Administration of Developmental Disabilities. Wells also worked in New Jersey's Department of Citizen Services and in their health and rehabilitation services.
