Anna Read is a project manager with ICMA’s Center for Sustainable Communities, where she works on issues related to smart growth and renewable energy. She has published several articles and reports on smart growth and transit-oriented development,
including Putting Smart Growth to Work in Rural Communities, which she has presented at the Southwest Transit Association Annual Conference, the National Building Museum’s Smart Growth Speaker Series, and the National Main Streets Conference. Prior to joining ICMA, Ms. Read worked as a research assistant at Cornell University, focusing on issues related to poverty and inequality in U.S. cities, including housing, access to employment opportunities, and concentrated poverty. She has a master’s degree in regional planning from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College.
